In 2008 the United Nations Environment Program expressed extreme concern for the implications of climate change on the Arctic regions. A warming Arctic climate is projected to change sea temperature and melt ice sheets, destroying vital ecosystems which operate in these Arctic areas. According to NASA
, even small changes in ice could mean drastic changes to our water cycle and global climate.
