Glacier mouth, Spitzbergen

Spitsbergen is an area strongly influenced by the warm North Atlantic current bringing heat and moisture into the Arctic. A great majority of Svalbard is glacier-covered. Glaciers supply water to the largest rivers, discharge massive amount of ice into the sea and are among the major contributing factors to sea-level rise.
