Norwegian Blue Forests Network (NBFN)
The network’s goal is to advance the blue forest approach in addressing climate change and meeting the SDGs
What are blue forests? by Cecilie Wathne, project manager for the Norwegian Blue Forest Network Blue forest is a generic term for vegetation inthe sea such as seaweed and kelp, eelgrass, and tidal beds and swamps. These "forests" are valuable because they have several important rolesin nature. They produce oxygen, store carbon, and are an important food basket, spawning and nursery area for a large proportion of marine andcoastal life. Nationally, sustainable use of marine ecosystems is a cornerstone of Norway's goal of developing a blue-green economy.
