The Blue Solutions Initiative provides a global platform to collate, share and generate knowledge and capacity for sustainable management and equitable governance of our blue planet. It brings together GIZ, GRID-Arendal, IUCN and UNEP. The initiative focuses on five themes, of which GRID-Arendal leads themes one and two:


  • Innovative Conservation Finance
  • Integrating Ecosystem Services into marine and coastal planning
  • Coastal and marine spatial planning and management
  • Protected Areas management and governance
  • Ecosystem-based Adaptation to climate change


Blue Solutions takes an innovative approach to enabling the adaptation and replication of successful, inspiring and inclusive solutions for a healthy planet. The initiative offers capacity development through training courses and webinars on its focus themes.
