Black-winged stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Elementaita lake, Kenya

The Black-winged Stilt is a very typical large but elegant wader species on alkaline lakes in the Rift Valley of Kenya. It has a distinct feeding action, walking with its long legs in shallow water and sweeping the bill from side to side.
