Greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) and other wetland birds, Elementaita Lake, Kenya

The Greater Flamingo is fairly wide distributed over Africa, Southern Europe, Central/Southern Asia and Central America. Its main habitat are saline lagoons and salt lakes. In Eastern Africa it often mixes with the more common Lesser Flamingo, but has a less specific diet, such as crustaceans, molluscs, annelids and insects.
