White-breasted comorans (Phalacrocorax carbo), Lake Naivasha, Kenya

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Rift Valley North-West of Nairobi. The lake and its surrounding swamps, grass- and woodlands are home to a high diversity of wildlife, among them more than 400 bird species and a sizable population of hippos. Floriculture forms the main industry around the lake and the largely unregulated use of lake water for irrigation is reducing the level of the lake.
