Park Rangers in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

Many of the Congo Basin's national parks are situated in areas of insecurity, which restricts the access of park rangers and limits their capacities to protect species and habitats within the parks. Tragically, about 200 park rangers have been killed while defending gorillas in one park alone - Virunga National Park, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
