Seagrass in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)
Seagrasses support both nature-based solutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The establishment of Nationally Determined Contributions provides a forum for each nation to outline self-determined steps they will take to achieve emissions reductions. As of September 2019, only 10 countries include an explicit reference to seagrasses, with 8 referring to adaptation and 5 referring to mitigation, though these do not necessarily include a measurable target.
