UNESCO Exhibition Glaciers on the Edge: preserving our global heritage
UNESCO and GRID-Arendal jointly developed “Glaciers on the Edge” featuring a selection of iconic glaciers located in Natural Heritage Sites.
Bridging gaps in spring research to guide policy and action in the Hindu Kush Himalaya.
The Challenge
Natural springs across the Hindu Kush Himalaya are rapidly drying due to climate change, land degradation, and mismanagement—threatening water security, ecosystems, and rural livelihoods. The HKH Springs Outlook highlights the urgent need to revive these critical water sources as part of broader efforts to address the triple planetary crisis and protect vulnerable mountain communities.
The Project
GRID-Arendal is developing the visual look and clear, visually engaging infographics for the regional report led by ICIMOD. We create a policy-focused summary based on the findings of this multidisciplinary report.
Our Transformative Approach
We translate evidence into plain-language briefs, legal clauses and negotiation support. The aim is clear: rules that hold up under scrutiny and drive fair outcomes on the ground.
Why It Matters
Protecting and restoring springs in the Hindu Kush Himalaya means securing water for millions, revitalizing ecosystems, and building resilience for vulnerable communities. The HKH Springs Outlook supports smarter policies and action—helping shape a future where people and nature thrive together. It contributes directly to global goals, including clean water, climate action, and reducing inequalities, creating lasting impact for current and future generations.
