At present, my main focus at GRID-Arendal is State of the Environment reporting and how to do this cost efficiently using the "Expert Elicitation" method. State of the Marine Environment reports are an important tool in Integrated Ocean Management, and to facilitate management of the ocean areas is a logical next step following the support GRID-Arendal has provided to developing states in delineating their offshore continental shelf.
I have long experience working with developing countries, especially in Africa, assisting them with tools and capacity development at the technical, institutional and managerial level. Integrated Ocean Management is normally implemented through the Regional Seas program of UN Environment.
As a Norwegian I also keep close contact with the Norwegian national regional and local level authorities, and often the experience from Norway can be used when similar solutions are implemented abroad.
I hold a Masters’ degree in Human Geography with specialization in Resource Geography from the University of Oslo. Prior to GRID-Arendal, I worked with a private consultant company (Asplan Viak), UN Environment in Nairobi, the Norwegian Mapping Authority and the Norwegian Central Bureau of Statistics.
