The Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea and one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. For seven years in a row (2005-2012), it was rated the best airport worldwide by Airports Council. However, it must be also noted that it was build on the costs of huge space of internationally important tidal flats and that further extensions are planned. How this can be environmentally compensated and remaining tidal flats protected is a big future challenge and opportunity for the country.
