GRID-Arendal is pleased to announce the Journalism Grant opportunity for 2025.

This grant supports journalists who want to cover the critical negotiations and developments under the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) for plastic pollution, taking place in, Geneva, Switzerland, 5 - 14 August 2025.

GRID-Arendal will award eight grants of up to 15,000 NOK each. Apply here

Key Dates

• Grant Application Deadline: 12 May 2025

• Grant Recipients Announced: 20 May 2025

The INC process, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aims to establish a legally binding international treaty to address the full life cycle of plastics. INC meetings bring together governments, scientists, and stakeholders to craft solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. The INC 5.2 session marks a crucial stage in these efforts — and strong journalistic coverage is vital to inform, engage, and inspire action.

If you’re a journalist determined to make a difference, we invite you to apply. Help bring the voices and stories from INC 5.2 to a global audience — and be part of the movement for meaningful change.
