Sea Ice and Traditional Practices in Greenland

For many people in Greenland the snowmobile has assumed the role of the modern successor to the dogsled. The vast majority of hunters, however, have chosen to stick to the traditional sleds and in certain cases hunting is not allowed on snowmobiles. In this series of photos a sled is being pulled by snowmobile over melting sea ice near Uummannaq Greenland in May 2009.
