Dog sled team on sea ice

Traditional dog sledding near Uummannaq, Greenland in May 2009. The image demonstrates the possibility to travel over sea ice during spring/summer 2009. Recent comparison can be made to the total lack of sea ice throughout the winter of 2005. This example of localized climate variation incurs positive and negative impacts on the community of Uummannaq.
