Kongsfjord, Spitzbergen, Svalbard

Kongsfjord with the "Seven Sisters", the mountains in the background peaking out the glaciers, as seen from the air pollution monitoring station above the research village Ny Ålesund. At the monitoring station pollutants transported to the Arctic from far away origins are measured at this "clean" high Arctic site. Only emissions from the local power station sometimes disturb the measurements.
