Junior Full Stack Developer

GRID-Arendal is looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer with passion for the art of design and programming. At GRID-Arendal you will work with the graphic designers and cartographers to bridge the gap between design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both areas and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

We are looking for someone who can contribute to GRID-Arendals on-going technology adventure. You should have minimum 3 years experience in:

  • Designing web applications with substantial UI/UX requirements
  • JavaScript libraries
  • CSS libraries
  • Web application frameworks such as WordPress, Django
  • Database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL

Responsibilities

As part of GRID-Arendal's team, your main focus will be:

  • Develop new web applications and new features to enable our audience to visualize and analyse our data
  • Work together with UI/UX design and take an active role on defining how the applications should look and work
  • Solve visualisation and data manipulation challenges using best practice and code patterns
  • Close interaction with our analyst team to help shape new features

Qualifications

  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Experience in variety of programming languages in order to create user-friendly front-end web application
  • Experience in creating dynamic web applications, working with REST/WebSocket APIs and web-frameworks
  • Experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units


Other appreciated skills

  • Experience in backend scripting such as Python, PHP or Node.js
  • Knowing one or more web-mapping API is an advantage (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Google Maps etc.)
  • Aware of GIS systems or software is an advantage
  • Experience in Web-based 3D application and animation is an advantage

  • You take the initiative and ownership of tasks with the "Operate what you build" mindset
  • You have good work capacity and the ability to work across disciplines and projects
