My educational background is from office and commercial schools where I specialized in accounting, shorthand, Norwegian and English commercial correspondence in addition to other secretarial work. I have also taken several different courses to improve my IT and computer skills including “Datakortet”, accounting and personnel.
After having stayed at home for 10 years while my children were small, I started to work for an employment agency. Through this agency, I worked for several different companies and got a lot of experience. This led me to Longum Park, where I worked for Innovasjonsmiljø from 1990 – 2001.
In 2001 I started to work for GRID-Arendal as an administration and personnel secretary. During the first 16 years I was also working as a secretary for Global Virtual University and assisting GRID-Arendal’s accounting department when needed.
Among the tasks I have carried out at GRID-Arendal, I have been responsible for logistics and other practical arrangements for workshops and meetings. I have also taken care of our interns and helped them when they were newcomers. It is nice to see participants leaving happy.
One of my main tasks now is taking care of the sick leave and related issues. I also assist our staff with application for visas when needed, and I assist them in other ways.
In other words, I have an interesting job and it’s never boring.
