Aksjon Rydd Strand – The Movie 2014

Repeating the success from 2013, GRID-Arendal has again been part of Aksjon Rydd Strand – a local beach cleaning action for 8th and 9th graders. More than 300 pupils from five local schools participated, and made a great effort in various weather conditions, cleaning popular beaches around Arendal before the summer.

The pupils learned about the causes and effects of marine waste in the classroom, then went out to do their part to reduce the problem. In addition to removing trash from the beaches, they also made artworks from it. This year, Aksjon Rydd Strand collaborated with The Scream from Nature, an environmental art project which aims to raise consciousness about the relationship between humans and nature. Watch the film to see some of the Screams made by the pupils!

Local partners in Aksjon Rydd Strand – in addition to GRID-Arendal – include Arendal Municipality, Aust-Agder County, the local department of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (Flødevigen Research Station), the environmental department of the County Governor (Fylkesmannen i Aust-Agder), Agder Renovasjon and 4H Aust-Agder.
