Township nearby the Himalayas
Pakistan has one of the largest man-made contiguous irrigation systems in the Indus basin which is based on the water available from the Indus River and its tributaries. Part of the Indus river flow is provided by glacial melt from the glaciers of the Himalayan Mountains. Agriculture is the dominant sector of the national economy and, being mainly an arid to semi-arid country, agriculture production is largely dependent on the availability of this irrigation water.
