5. CO2 emissions from transportation in 2000

Increased transport is one of the main reasons for increased CO2 emissions, both in developed and developing countries. During the 1990s the increase in emissions from transport in South America was higher than the world average, while the increase in Central America and the Caribbean was similar to world average.
