Blue Forests Project

01 Nov 2018

The Blue Forests Project is a global initiative focused on improving the understanding of the values associated with coastal carbon and ecosystem services, and exploring how these values can be harnessed to achieve goals in ecosystem management, sustainable communities and climate change. Blue forests ecosystems include mangrove forests, seagrass meadows and saltwater marshes, all of which are noted for their ability to fix and store atmospheric carbon, thereby helping address the global climate challenge.
