We are facing a triple planetary crisis: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Blue forests help to address this crisis by capturing and sequestering carbon, nurturing marine biodiversity, improving water quality, and shielding coastal communities from erosion, storms, and flooding. Yet globally these ecosystems are declining at an alarming rate.

Blue Forests Week 2022 will begin with a two-day webinar series on the importance of seagrass meadows. The webinars will focus on international approaches to seagrass conservation and restoration, and both will be held in English. On December 1st, Blue Forests Week will close with a hybrid seminar in Norwegian at the Norwegian Environment Agency, focusing on the consideration of blue forests within coastal zone spatial planning and regional management plans domestically.

Participation is free and open to all. Register for the week's events here. For each day's programme, please click on the links below.
