The USA's Arctic strategy defines its national security interests in the Arctic region and identifies prioritized lines of effort. It is designed to meet the reality of a changing Arctic environment, while simultaneously pursuing the USA's global objective of combating the climatic changes that are driving these environmental conditions.

The strategy is built on three lines of effort:

  • Advancing United States security interests,
  • pursuing responsible Arctic region stewardship,
  • strengthening international cooperation.
