Stressing the peculiar fragility of the Arctic ecosystem, the countries reaffirm their priority to implement the Arctic Environmental Protection Strategy (AEPS) and the related international conventions that apply to the environment and its protection. The Declaration strengthens the need for transparent multilateral cooperation in order to achieve sustainable development and use of Arctic resources.
