Towards GEO 6: Meeting Held in Berlin

October 8-10, 2013, Berlin, Germany - GRID-Arendal staff participated in the GEO5 evaluation team, promoted Polar and Cryosphere inputs for the new report, and discussed the role of collaborating centres with GEO project team.

The two-day workshop was organised by the UNEP GEO team and led by the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC). The MCC aims to promote deliberative communication and decision-making at the interface between science, policy and society.

UNEP invited lead authors and coordinating lead authors to provide feedback on experiences with GEO5 production, both in terms of content and process, in order to improve on the experience when producing GEO6.

The UNEP team is doing a more comprehensive evaluation of the impact of their overall assessment reports and collaborative research initiatives. The core objective of this research is to enhance the understanding of global environmental assessment processes, in order to develop options for improving future practices.
