Young mangrove plantation on coastal Bali
Year:
2010
Taken by:
Lawrence Hislop
In the 1980's a boom in shrimp farming saw a great amount of mangrove forest replaced by farms. As the coastline begun to be chipped away by violent waves, there was some concern that the bridge of land between the North and South parts of the island would be destroyed, sparking a restoration project. Around 1,000 hectares of land has been restored to this area.
