In September 2007, an RSE (Religion, Science and Environment) synopsium called Amazon: Source of Life was held. It took participants through the Amazon focusing on the 42 billion trees in the area, threats on Brazil's water supply and the forestry industry as a major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions in the Country. From there, the synopsium traveled to the Arctic to witness the effects of human-induced climate change in this sensitive region.
Here, the assembled leaders of different faiths joined in prayer to send the message that all of those around the World who care about mankind and its relationship with the planet have a moral obligation to take urgent action.
