Small-scale reef fishermen, Philippines

Year: 2010
From collection: Blue Carbon
Taken by: Rebecca Weeks (Marine Photobank)
Small-scale fishers in the Philippines use traditional outrigger-style boats. Few are motorized, resulting in limited spatial mobility for most fishers and high localized fishing pressure. Coastal protection, including marine protected areas, may enhance the sustainability of fisheries for future generations.
