The Dotterel breeds in the Arctic tundra of northern Eurasia, from Norway to eastern Siberia. The Dotterel is a migratory species, wintering in a narrow belt across north Africa from Morocco eastwards to Iran. - Within the former German-Soviet Environmental Agreement in the years 1989-1991 3 biological expeditions to the Taimyr peninsular in northernmost Siberia were performed.
