The Northfrisian "Halligen" Langeneß, Nordstrandischmoor, Gröde, Hooge and Oland off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein were 2009 recognized by UNESCO as a "Biosphere reserve Wadden and Halligen" within the National Park Wadden Sea Schleswig-Holstein.
