Fishermen in Lofoten, Norway
Year:
2010
Taken by:
Lawrence Hislop
In the ancient past, fishermen would travel for days or weeks in open rowing boats in order to fish from the waters of Lofoten throughout the entire winter. To house these seasonal guests, Rorbu (small huts) were built and rented out. While people no longer row up to Lofoten in winter these days, fishing tourism here is serious business.
