Birdlife at Lake Nakuru
Year:
2010
Taken by:
Peter Prokosch
Lake Nakuru National Park is one of several protected areas in Kenya and is located in the eastern African Rift Valley that stretches from northern Tanzania to Ethiopia. It contains a shallow lake, fed by the Njoro, Makalia, and Enderit rivers. The lake has no outlet and is home to many plant and animal species surviving under very specific environmental conditions.
The main threat to the park in recent years has been contamination caused by surface run-off in the wet season, sewage and industrial pollution.
