Belize reef, seagrasses and mangroves from above
Year:
2010
Taken by:
Jason Valdez (Marine Photobank)
Mangroves forests, seagrass meadows and coral reefs can be connected to each other through nutrient cycles, physical processes, plant and animal migration and human impact. Protection of mangrove and seagrass habitats (blue carbon ecosystems) could also increase resilience to climate change for associated coral reefs.
