Antarctic shelf-ice berg, Antarctic Peninsula
is the name for the process of a piece of ice (sometimes kilometers wide) breaking off an ice shelf and becoming an iceberg. Large tabular icebergs, such as the one pictured, are common off the Antarctic peninsular.
