Deserts and Desertification
Both hot and cold desert ecosystems are home for highly specialized species, which adapted to extreme temperatures. Whereby deserts belong to the natural global bioms, the (human-caused) increasing desertification is a threat to more productive tropical and subtropical bioms. The UNITED NATIONS Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) deals with the later.
