IMPACT Workshop – Applied Experience with Results-Based Management - 7-8 February 2012 Arendal, Norway

This workshop is the fourth in a well-received series of Impact workshops first launched by GRID-Arendal in 2000.

Jointly organized by GRID-Arendal and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the workshop was designed for management-level officials and was inspired by an on-going dialogue between NORAD, UNEP and GRID-Arendal on how best to enhance results-tracking and reporting practices.

The overall purpose is to explore “good practice” in embedding the Results-Based Management (RNM) approach in the project/programme life cycle, in part by sharing the experience of GRID-Arendal in further integrating the methodology in its operations.  RBM experts from NORAD shared their experience in how to manage the challenges of RBM in multilateral organizations.  The goal is to provide useful guidance to UNED in terms of results reporting in the future, having in mind the development of UNEP’s next medium-term strategy.

Representatives from UNEP, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NORAD, as well as  and GRID-Arendal participated in the workshop

Building substantially on the accumulated experience of UNEP and GRID-Arendal, the seminar focused on how to create corporate results chains that integrate and reflect normative work, while facilitating short-term measurement of long-term objectives.  Participants shared their RBM experiences and lessons learned, and discussed practical challenges to results reporting.

Representatives from UNEP, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NORAD, the GRID-Arendal Board of Directors and the GRID-Arendal management and staff participated in the workshop.
