GRID-Arendal launches the State of the Environment Norway 1997 report (SoE-Norway 97) on the Internet. The report contains the latest information about the environment in Norway, presented in easily understandable graphics, photos, texts and an abundance of maps.
The report shows trends and developments of a number of environmental indicators including: wilderness areas, consequences of acid rain, ozone depletion and UV-intensity, contaminated soils, urban environment, waste, fisheries, forestry and biodiversity.
The latest information from the UN Panel on Climate Change is also presented graphically.
The State of the Environment Norway is the state of the art in Environment reporting, and acts as a model for similar reports from other countries, in particular from Central and Eastern Europe.
The report is targeted at decsions-makers, environmental NGOs, secondary schools and the general public.
The State of the Environment of Norway 1997 is a revised and updated version of the SoE Noprway 1995, which received 2nd place in the European Environment Agency's "Princes Award" contest for the best multimedia presentation on the environment.
GRID-Arendal hopes that this report will provide an instrument which will help promote a sustainable future.
