New state of the environment web sites launched for North West Russia

Fourteen million people in North West Russia have since the end of December 2003 been able to access environmental information and data about their region on the Internet. This information was previously almost impossible to get a hold of. The information is featured on 11 state of the environment web sites launched and facilitated by GRID-Arendal, the Department of the State Control for the Northwest Federal District of Russia, Russian Environmental Federal Information Agency and the Transboundary Environmental Information Agency.

Arendal 9 January, 2004 - Fourteen million people in North West Russia have since the end of December 2003 been able to access environmental information and data about their region on the Internet. This information was previously almost impossible to get a hold of. The information is featured on 11 state of the environment web sites launched and facilitated by GRID-Arendal, the Department of the State Control for the Northwest Federal District of Russia, Russian Environmental Federal Information Agency and the Transboundary Environmental Information Agency. The web sites are launched in English and Russian and will be distributed to local NGO's, government bodies, media and universities during 2004 on CDROM's.
