Issue No. 3 of Environment & Poverty Times, has been released. This edition, especially prepared for the World Conference on Disaster Reduction that will be taking place 18-22 January in Kobe, Japan, features a collection of articles covering a wide range of disaster-related issues ranging from prevention early warning and preparedness to relief and reconstruction.
The paper includes examples of natural events and industrial accidents addressing the linkages between environmental management, risk reduction and effect on livelihoods. It describes the role of the various industrial sectors and the local level in disaster management as well as the role of environmental management on disaster risk reduction. It also presents a set of maps displaying issues related to disasters that may not necessarily be viewed as such.
