The UNEP Shelf Programme is organizing a two-part workshop entitled "Desk-Top Preparation Workshop for East African Committees". UNEP Headquarters, Nairobi, Kenya: 14-24 March 2006
The workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for the preparation of a country's submission for the extension of continental shelf according to the requirements of Article 76 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas.
Representatives from the submission committees of Tanzania, Kenya, and Mozambique will attend the fist part of the workshop that will take place 14-15 March to discuss Article 76 and the submission process. Geologists and geophysicists also from these countries will attend part two of the workshop that will be held 16-24 March and will focus on hands-on preparation of a desk-top study.
