20-22 February 2008 - Principality of Monaco
The tenth special session of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will be held in the Principality of Monaco from 20 to 22 February 2008. The ministerial consultations during the tenth special session of the Council/Forum will focus on the emerging policy issues of “Globalization and the environment - mobilizing finance to meet the climate challenge”; as well as “International environmental governance and the United Nations reform.”
Delegates representing the 58 members of the Council will discuss five major issues, including: UNEP’s medium-term strategy 2010-2013; response to the findings of the fourth Global Environment Outlook report; chemicals management, including mercury and waste management; sustainable development of the Artic region; and the international year of combating climate change.
