It is recommended to land in either Kjevik Airport Kristiansand, Torp Airport Sandefjord or Gardermoen Airport Oslo. Below you will find travel information from these airports to Arendal:
Shuttle bus, arriving at Kjevik Airport Kristiansand
Kristiansand is the airport closest to Arendal. Flights arrive/depart Kristiansand daily from Copenhagen (Denmark), Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger. Kjevik airport is located 50 km or a 40-45 min. by car from Arendal. A bus service (Flybussen) between Kjevik airport and Arendal leaves every hour from 08:20.
You will find the shuttle bus at the entrance to the arrival hall of Kjevik airport. The cost of a one-way fare is NOK 220 (approx. 1 hour and 40 minutes travel time).Transfer at ‘Quality Hotel’ bus stop (5-mins after airport) except on the late evening bus, which drives directly to Arendal.
The shuttle bus service does not always accept credit cards. Please ensure that you have Norwegian currency when you arrive at Kristiansand. You can change currency in Amsterdam or in Kristiansand at the airport (ATM/money changing machine). The airport shuttle bus bound for Arendal is located right outside the terminal. (Be sure to board the bus that is bound for Arendal and not Kristiansand). http://www.flybussen.no/arendal/
Taxi service is also available at the airport (approximate cost to Arendal is NOK 1200).
Arriving in Gardermoen Airport Oslo
The shuttle train ride from the Oslo (Gardermoen) airport to the Oslo Central station takes approximately 40 minutes. The trains run every 10 minutes. www.flytoget.no click English, e-ticket journey option. NOK 170 from airport to Oslo Central station (same station for trains and buses to Arendal).
Between Oslo Central station and Arendal there are direct bus and train routes several times a day (250 km, 4-hour journey).
Travelling by train to Arendal from Oslo
From Oslo central station to Arendal: NOK 249 one way (mini price booked at least one day in advance). Train tickets with seat reservations can be purchased with credit card information via www.nsb.no or http://www.nsb.no/internet/en/index.jhtml (English). You will receive a ticket confirmation/receipt which you show when you take your seat on the train. Your receipt is your ticket. There is one train transfer between Oslo and Arendal, 40 minutes prior to arrival in Arendal, at NELAUG station. Here you must transfer to the Arendal shuttle train, just across the platform.
It is a short (less than 10-minutes) walk from the train station to the offices of GRID-Arendal. Upon arrival at Arendal train station, take a right, walk through the tunnel to the Arendal market place. Continue straight on towards the sea, the redbrick church to your right, and the hotel just ahead by the sea. If you should want to order a taxi, please do this via the local train conductor or call the number below as no taxis will be found at the Arendal station. Taxi cost to the hotel approx. NOK 80.

Tickets are purchased on the bus. No need to order tickets in advance. For schedules, check www.nettbuss.no (English option) or www.konkurrenten.no (Norwegian). The Arendal bus station is less than a 5-minute walk to the offices of GRID-Arendal.
Between Oslo and Arendal there are direct bus and train routes several times a day (250 km, 4-hour journey).
Arriving in Torp Airport, Sandefjord
Torp is the second closest airport to Arendal, after kjevik. There is a frequent bus service to Arendal.
Bus from Torp Airport to Arendal
The bus service to Arendal bus station leaves from Fokserød station 3.5 km from the airport. You can take a 5 minute Taxi from Torp Sandefjord Airport to Fokserød.
