The high-level representatives and delegations present at the fourth Conference of the Parties of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention) welcomed the launch of the Caspian Environmental Information Centre

The web-based Caspian Environmental Information Centre (CEIC), aims to provide reliable and high-quality data for decision-makers on all levels in the Caspian region and beyond.  The portal houses reports, national action plans, aggregated data, and scientific and legal documents for environmental issues and activities within the Caspian region. It also provides a directory of all relevant government-affiliated organizations and public participation.

CEIC’s primary purpose is to serve as a communication tool of the Secretariat of the Tehran Convention and to provide information for regular State of the Environment reporting of the Caspian Sea (the first State of the Environment Report of the Caspian Sea.

This is a collaborative effort between GRID-Arendal and the Environmental Information Officers of five Caspian littoral states, who manage national data, process and analyze, before reporting it through the CEIC.
