Lars Kullerud is the President of the University of the
Arctic (UArctic) hosted by UNEP-GRID/Arendal in Arendal, Norway. Lars has held the position of President of UArctic since May 2002.
With the UArctic president as a integral part of UNEP/GRID-Arendal, he serve as a member of GRID polar team and is advisor to GRID-Arendal MD.
Before joining the UArctic team, he was the Polar Programme Manager for UNEP/GRID-Arendal. Throughout his UArctic Presidency, Lars has continued to foster an academic interest in northern environment and development issues.
His academic background is in Precambrian Geology and Isotope Geochemistry, development of geostatistical methods for petroleum resource assessments, as well as assessments of the Arctic environment. Lars has authored or co-authored several publications in environmental sciences and geosciences, on both a regional and international level.
